Varsity Softball vs William Monroe

Published by at 9:25 am under girls, greene, softball

I went straight from work to soccer, and when I got there, I realized that I didn’t bring all of the memory cards for my camera. I had some older, smaller cards that I keep in the bag as a backup, and was forced to use those. I knew I’d be running low on storage space by the end of the night since I planned to shoot three games (jv soccer, varsity soccer, and softball).

When I got to the softball game I was already frozen from shooting 2.5 hours of soccer. The wind was blowing so hard on the soccer field at times that I had to shoot sitting down. When I was standing, I couldn’t hold the camera still. So, my plan was to stay for only a little of the softball game, just get some photos for the Eagle, because my card space was running low….and did I mention that I was frozen?!!

But, I guess I should have known better. After all, it was Madison vs Greene, and no matter who wins or loses, it’s always a good game when we play each other.

Greene was ahead 1-0 for most of the game, and I kept saying to myself “..I’m going to leave at the end of this inning… “, but for some reason I kept hanging around. Then Jordan doubles to drive in Cara to tie the score, somewhere around the sixth inning, I think. Okay, so I can’t leave now, can I? The game’s tied! The 7th inning passes, the score is still tied and into extra innings we go….and I’m running out of card space.

So, as you look at the gallery of pictures, you’ll notice that I shot the last part of the game in black & white. Black & white takes slightly less space on the cards…and also saves me time in correcting the color from high ISO images shot under those lights. (I can go into more detail on color and night games under lights and high ISO, but it’s long and boring).

Back to the game, Maci has been pitching the last few innings for Madison and hasn’t allowed Greene any scoring opportunities and putting bunches of K’s in the scorebook.

Madison is at bat in the bottom of the eighth or ninth, not sure which (my brain, among other things, was frozen and I lost count). Cara draws a walk, Jordan singles moving Cara into scoring position on second. So, Tiffany reenters to bat for Maci, and, after getting advice from both Coach Scott AND Coach Jenkins, hits a nice little single up the middle to score Cara from second. Madison wins 2-1!!!

That last picture you see in the gallery of Tiffany smiling was the last picture on my last card. (you can click on any of the pictures below to see the entire gallery of images from the game)
