Anthony Jewett STATE CHAMPION!!!

MCHS junior Anthony Jewett defeated Buffalo Gap junior Zac Richey (Region B Champion and was 28-0 for the season until he met Anthony) in overtime to take the Virginia State Championship in the 160 lb class. The match was tied at the end of regulation and went into a one minute sudden victory overtime period. Seconds before that one minute was up, Jewett scored a takedown (I think… it all happened pretty fast…and I don’t know all that much about wrestling) to take the win. PHOTOS ARE NOW ONLINE. State Tournament Bull Run District Wrestlers, includes Strasburg, Manassas Park, and Clarke. Also includes some of Fluvanna wrestlers.

Madison’s Ethan O’Connell took third place in the State Wrestling Tournament with a win over Manassas Park’s Marvin Escobar in the 130 lb class.
