MCHS Varsity Softball vs Amelia~Region B Quarter Finals

Published by under mchs,Regionals,softball

Madison took on the Amelia Lady Raiders tonight in the Region B Tournament Quarter Finals.  After a 0-0 first inning, Amelia jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second on a Nadine Porter two run homer.  But, the lead didn’t last long, Madison came back and scored 5 in the bottom of the second, and it was all Madison after that.  Final, Madison 12, Amelia 3.

From what I can tell from following @PageCountyHS on twitter, Luray had a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the seventh, and Page came back to beat them 4-3.  Madison play Page here in Madison on Wednesday evening, I assume at 7:00 pm, but check MCHSAthletics.com to be sure.

The fans got to play too, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many fouls balls in one game….

And, ya gotta love those Waverly Yowell sunsets ….

Fifth Grade Running Club

They were at it again on Friday, Waverly Yowell’s Fifth Grade Running Club, tearing up the track at MCHS.  They ran the cross country course last fall, this spring it was 800 meters and 1600 meters.  Their feet barely touched the ground….

A few pre-race warmups.  Maybe we’ll get some hurdlers out of this group….I like hurdlers…makes for cool pictures…

Bull Run District Softball Tournament Final~Clarke at Madison

Published by under clarke,mchs,softball

Close, close game.  Clarke had bases loaded twice with one out, in the first and fourth, and Jordan Aylor pitched her way out of it.

With the score tied at 3 in the bottom of the sixth, two outs, runners on second and third (edited from earlier, I forgot that Lauren Seale sac. bunted Molly and Anna to second and third), Timberly Deane ran the count to 3-2….just to keep us all on the edge of our seats….and then hit a nice little single up the middle to score Molly Shifflett (pinch running for Amber Robson who singled earlier), for what would be the winning run.

Madison is the number one seed in next week’s Region B tournament and will play Amelia here in Madison at 7:00pm on Monday.  (click on any photo below to see the gallery)

Madison put 7 players on All Bull Run District Teams, First Team:  Karri Carpenter, Anna Kelliher, Megan Clarke, Casey Racer, Amanda Whittaker, Amber Robson, and Jordan Aylor.  Chandler Gentry is second team All District.

Madison Head Coach Jesse Yowell is Bull Run District Coach of the Year.

Madison senior pitcher Jordan Aylor is Bull Run District Player of the Year.

And my ‘layers’ shot of the night….

MCHS Varsity Softball vs George Mason~District Semi-finals

Published by under george mason,mchs,softball

Madison defeated George Mason tonight 10-0 in 5 innings to advance to the finals of the Bull Run District Tournament.  They will play Clarke, here in Madison, on Thursday at 7:00 pm.  You should probably be there.

I feel like I’ve struggled to get good softball photos this year.  Not sure why, it’s been cloudy a lot, so it gets dark quickly, and that doesn’t help.  But, I just haven’t gotten a lot of photos I like.  It went a little better tonight, and I don’t really know why.  I like “layers” in my photos: the main subject in focus, then some foreground or background elements that give you some perspective.  I got several of those tonight…makes me happy 🙂
