From MCHSAthletics.org:

The Boys Varsity Basketball team opened their Bull Run District schedule with an impressive 57-53 win over district favorite George Mason tonight.

The game was close throughout the first half with George Mason bombing away from the 3 point line every time the Mountaineers tried to pull away. Madison led by 7 late in the first half but Mason closed the quarter out with a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 2 at the break.

Mason continued to hit the 3 point shot and took a 1 point lead early in the 4th quarter but a 7-0 run by the Mountaineers gave Madison a 6 point lead with 3:46 to play. Madison turned the ball over twice in a row which resulted in 2 more 3 pointers by Mason to tie the game at 53 but Madison scored the last 4 points and hung on for the 57-53 win.

Travis Warren led the Mountaineers with 20 points and Patrick Roebuck added 14.

Patrick sunk two free throws with just under a minute on the clock to give Madison a 55-53 lead.  Travis sealed the win with this layup.

If you can’t get to the games, Stephen Dixon is broadcasting live from the home boy’s games. You can listen to him on Morcast.

Some of our cheerleaders need to work on their timing.... 🙂

Madison’s JV boy’s basketball team lost to Luray tonight 42-32.  James Graves scored half of Madison’s points with 16.
