Wrestling at Orange

Madison narrowly lost their first match of the season this morning to Courtland, 43-42.  The match ended in a tie at 42, and went to tie breakers, and was eventually decided by which team had the most first takedowns.  Jacob Welch (120#), Jeff Foster (152#), Anthony Jewett (160#), Derek Rakes (182#), and Justin Farry (220#) all picked up wins.  Click the photo below to see the gallery.

Also shot the end of the Orange vs Oakton match, and the beginning of the Orange vs Courtland match.  Click the photo below to see that gallery.

MCHS Boys Basketball vs East Rockingham Eagles

This evening’s basketball games were preceded by a very successful pep rally with an 80’s theme.  Seniors won the spirit stick after Josh, Kevin, and Nick provided some dancing entertainment.

From MCHSAthletics:

The Varsity Boys Basketball team won their home opener tonight against East Rockingham 56-45. Madison jumped out to an early lead thanks to the hot hand of sophomore guard Bobby Ford who hit three 3 pointers in the first quarter and had five for the half.

East Rockingham made a nice comeback in the 2nd half and took a two point lead early in the 4th quarter but back to back 3 pointers from Patrick Roebuck and Lucas McDaniel followed by a bucket from Matt Temple gave the Mountaineers an 8-0 run and a 6 point lead they would never relinquish.

Ford finished the game with 16 points to pace Madison. Temple had 14 points and  Roebuck finished with 11 points.

The best thing about having 16 varsity cheerleaders?  They can make A LOT of noise when we need it!!!

The JV boys lost to East Rockingham 38-25.
