From MCHSAthletics:

The Boys Varsity Basketball hosted Strasburg tonight and came away with a hard fought 50-46 victory.

Strasburg jumped out to an early 12-5 lead and seemed to have found the Mountaineers on an off night. Madison scored at the end of the quarter to make it 12-7.

Madison tightened up a little defensively in the 2nd quarter holding the Rams to just 7 points and a Patrick Roebuck 17 footer at the buzzer sent the Mountaineers into the locker room with a 21-19 lead.

Madison came out hot in the 3rd quarter and opened up a 7 point lead but also had some lapses defensively that let Strasburg back into the game.

The Rams would hold a 4 point lead with 3:42 left in the game but a 3 pointer from Bobby Ford cut the margin to 1. Madison would take the lead a minute later on a Roebuck layup and then Travis Warren sealed the game with 4 free throws in the final minute.

Warren led the way for the Mountaineers with 16 points. Roebuck, Ford and MattTemple all had 10 points each.

Madison is now 7-5 overall and 4-1 in the Bull Run District.

Madison’s JV boys lost a close one to Strasburg tonight.  Richie Medeiros kept Madison in the game in the closing seconds sinking a free throw, and a jumper with 8 seconds on the clock to tie the game at 40.  But Strasburg hit a 3 just seconds before the final buzzer to win the game 43-40.
