MCHS Varsity Softball vs Holston Cavaliers-State Semi Finals

Madison ended their season today with a 4-1 loss to the Holston Cavaliers, on Veteran’s Field in Radford, in the Group A, Division 1 State Semi Finals.  In the other semi final game, later in the day, Bath County defeated Rappahannock 1-0 on a no-hitter by Bath’s Jailyn Ford.  Holston and Bath will play for the State Championship on Saturday at 10:00am in Radford.

My Twitter stream (@berrysports) is below for an inning by inning recap of the game should you be interested.  I had incorrectly tweeted the Holston home run in the top of the fifth.  I’ve corrected that below.

Was wondering about the Holston mascot, they’re the Holston Cavaliers

Madison will be home team.

Madison’s Lauren Seale strikes out the side in the first. Madison up to bat.

3 up, 3 down for Madison in the first all on groundouts.

Three more K’s for Seale in the top of the second.

3 up, 3 down again for Madison in the second, all infield outs.

Seale racks up 2 more K’s, and a 1-3 to end the top of the third.

Flea doubles.

Raegan moves her to third.

Out of the inning, Kaitlin Aylor left on third. Holston up.

Holston’s Megan Honaker triples to lead off the fourth, and pitcher Morgan Lowe singles her in. Holston up 1-0 middle of four.

Madison ties it up in the bottom of 4 on Seale 2 out double and Kelliher single. We’re tied 1-1 after 4.

Seale walked 1 in the top of the fifth but she was left on first. Still 1-1 after 5.5.

Clatterbaugh walks with 1 out but gets left on first. Madison and Holston still tied at 1 after 5 innings.

Two run homer by Holston’s Amelia Wampler gives the Cavaliers a 4-1 lead after 5.5.

Holston up 4-1 over Madison after 6 innings.

Madison up in the bottom of the 7th, Holston leads 4-1.

Madison ends their season with 4-1 loss to Holston in the State semi finals.
