Madison defeats East Rock 3-2 in Region B 1/4 Finals
Whew! Big win for the Lady Mountaineers tonight. After dropping the first set 21-25, there was a major momentum shift in the second set when Madison came from way down to win that set 25-23. The comeback led by the serves of Abby Bowman, and some absolutely incredible digs by Jessica Schmitt to keep the ball in play. With that momentum, Madison went on to win the third set 25-21 and take a 2-1 lead in the match. The fourth set was all East Rockingham, and they carried that momentum into the fifth and final set, taking a 7-1 lead to start that one off. But the Lady Mountaineers scored the next 13 points to take a 14-7 lead, before finally winning the match 15-9 on a Cassity Lacy kill.
Luray defeated Riverheads tonight 3-1, so Madison will play Luray at 7:00pm on Thursday, at Madison, in the Region B semi finals. In other Region B action, #1 seed Altavista defeated #8 Nottoway, and #4 Nelson defeated #5 Central 3-1. Nelson will play at Altavista Thursday at 7:00pm in the other Region B semi.
