Madison lost to East Rockingham tonight 4-1 in the Division 1, Region B Softball Final.  Madison will have to travel to Rappahannock next Tuesday for the State Quarter Finals.  (click the  photo below to see the photo gallery from the game)

Luray threatened a couple of times early in the game having 2 runners in scoring position with less than two outs, but Madison was able work their way out of it both times.  Lauren Seale got the win, pitching a 5-0 shutout.  Madison will host the Region B Softball Finals on Friday night at 7:00pm and play East Rockingham.  (click any photo below to see the gallery from the game)

Madison defeated Riverheads tonight 16-1 in the Division 1, Region B Quarter Final.  #1 seed Madison will host #5 seed Luray on Wednesday night at 7:00pm.  (click either photo below to see the gallery)

That Waverly Yowell light……

After finishing in first place for the regular season, Madison captured the Bull Run District Tournament Championship tonight, defeating Clarke 2-0.  The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when Sam Atwell led off the inning with a slap single, and with two outs, Chandler Gentry drove Atwell in to give Madison a 1-0 lead.  Madison scored again in the fifth when Cagney Shifflett hit the first pitch of the inning over the center field fence for a solo home run.  Madison will host the Region B quarter final game on Monday evening, and will play Riverheads at 7:00pm at Waverly Yowell field.

A couple of amazing catches tonight by Madison.  Kaitlin Aylor made an over-the-back catch in foul territory behind third base.  And Sam Atwell slipped and fell going for a fly ball in center field, and was able to get her feet under her enough to dive and make the catch.  I think I like the reaction below better than the catch photo 🙂

And Bull Run District Honors were as follows:

Bull Run District First Team:  Kaitlin Aylor, Chandler Gentry, and Lauren Seale.  Seale was also Bull Run District Pitcher of the Year.  Jesse Yowell was named Bull Run District Coach of the Year.

Bull Run District Second Team:  Mariann Smith, Sam Atwell, Raegan Clatterbaugh, and Taylor Yowell.

Madison defeated Central this evening 1-0 to advance to the finals of the Bull Run District Softball Tournament.  The game was scoreless into the fifth inning when Cagney Shifflett doubled, and Sam Breeden singled her in for what would be the game winning run.  Madison will play Clarke this Thursday, in Madison at 7:00 pm in the Bull Run District Final.  (click either picture below to see the gallery from the game)
