It was the girl’s idea to do the poster in front of some old barns that I use for senior portraits…and I think it was a very good idea . Definitely says “Madison”.

ELEVEN seniors this year…Lindsay Wheeler, Leanna Coates, Carrie Brown, Brittany Tasker, Becca Aldridge, Anna Artale, Cameron Farmer, Kayla Compton, Rachel Crigler, Quinn Snow, and Colby Snow.

MCHS Varsity Baseball vs Rappahannock

Another “Senior night”, Madison seniors Collin Tucker, Josh Honaker, and Travis Warren played their last regular season home game last night. Madison defeated Rappahannock 10-6, and will play at George Mason on Monday, at 5:00pm, in the Bull Run District Tournament Quarter Finals.

Madison varsity softball defeated Rappahannock 9-0 tonight on “Senior night.” It was the last, regular season, home game for three MCHS seniors: Casey Racer, Anna Kelliher, and Karri Carpenter.

Madison softball will play at home on Monday night, at 7:00pm in the Bull Run District Tournament Quarter Finals. Madison varsity girl’s soccer will also be home on Monday, playing at 5:00pm in the BRD Soccer Quarter Finals.

Oh yeah. Madison 4, Rappahannock 0.

Madison’s varsity girl’s soccer team started off the night recognizing 12 seniors: Becca Aldridge, Anna Artale, Carrie Brown, Leanna Coates, Kayla Compton, Kathryn Crouthamel, Rachel Crigler, Cameron Farmer, Colby Snow, Quinn Snow, Brittany Tasker, and Lindsay Wheeler. With 11 seniors on the field at the start of the match, it was rather obvious early on that these seniors had no intention of loosing their final home regular season match. I’m not sure I’ve seen a Madison soccer team play with that intensity since 2010. And once the underclassmen were subbed in, it was equally obvious that winning was the only option for them also.

It was mostly a defensive match during the first half, with Senior Cameron Farmer finally scoring for Madison with less than a minute to play in the half. Senior goalkeeper Brittany Tasker held Rappahannock scoreless for the first half. Senior Lindsay Wheeler broke things open for Madison in the second half, scoring 3 goals in the first 13 minutes. And, not to take anything away from Cameron or Lindsay, but sophomore keeper Kathleen Machleit played one hell of a second half in goal!! She made three stops that I thought were almost sure goals. One of the stops coming on a penalty kick after a double yellow card in the box.

The match was stopped for 30 minutes in the first half for lightning, and called with 22 minutes to play, also for lightning.

If you live in Madison, and you didn’t leave that match proud to be a Mountaineer, it’s probably time for you to move

Lots of celebration after the win

Madison’s JV girl’s soccer team also won this afternoon, defeating Rappahannock 2-0. Both Madison goals were scored in the first half, one by Skylar Colvin and the other by Jennifer Rohde (I tweeted Jackie Dews scoring the second goal, sorry for the mixup!)

MCHS Varsity Baseball vs Strasburg

Madison Youth Sports Baseball players were introduced prior to the game and joined the varsity players on the field for the playing of the National Anthem. Madison went up 1-0 in the first inning, and maintained that lead until the top of the seventh, when Strasburg scored an unearned run to tie the game at 1. Collin Tucker started on the mound and pitched through the 10th inning. Strasburg scored 8 runs in the top of the 11th on 1 hit and 11 walks. Final score Madison 2, Strasburg 9. MCHS Girl’s Soccer vs Strasburg

Madison’s varsity girl’s soccer team defeated Strasburg 8-0 yesterday. Madison led Strasburg 4-0 at half. Goals by Lindsay Wheeler (2), Savannah Bench and Caitlin Shilan. Bench’s goal was on a nice cross from Wheeler. And Shilan’s goal was on a carom off the goal post from a Cameron Farmer shot on goal. In the second half, another goal by Lindsay Wheeler and 2 by Katy Sorrell give Madison 7-0 lead over Strasburg in varsity girls soccer with 25 min to play (which was when I left to head over to baseball).

Madison’s JV girls defeated Strasburg 8-0. Game called by slaughter rule with 5:22 to play. Sabrina Byrum, Brianna Heath, Tori Byrum, Darla Bostic, and Lauren Birkett all scored in the first half to give Madison a 5-0 at the break. Vanessa Long scored 2, and Abby Bowman put in 1 in the second half to give Madison the 8-0 win.
