From MCHS Athletics: The Boys Varsity Basketball team lost at home to George Mason tonight 59-47. Madison was led by Travis Warren with 17 points. Nick Paxton added 11 points and Patrick Roebuck tossed in 10. Madison is now 4-10 overall and 2-1 in the Bull Run District.
From MCHS Athletics: The Boys JV Basketball team picked up their first win of the season tonight beating George Mason 49-47. The Mountaineers were led by Lucas McDaniel with 13 points. Dustin Farmer added 9 points and James Graves had 8.

Madison’s varsity girl’s battled defending Group A, Division 2 State Champion George Mason this evening and came away with a 58-26 loss to the Mustangs. Chandler Gentry led the scoring for Madison with 17 points.
Madison’s JV Girls lost to Mason tonight 37-14.

From MCHS Athletics: The Boys Varsity Basketball survived a late run from Manassas Park tonight to hold on for a 56-49 win. Madison led by 20 with less then a minute remaining in the 3rd quarter but Manassas Park hit a jumper at the buzzer and then went on a 17-5 run to open the final quarter. Manassas Park would get no closer then 5 points though as Nick Paxton hit a pair of free throws to stop the run. Madison was led by Travis Warren with 16 points. Bobby Ford had 12 points, all on 3-pointers and Paxton added 8. Madison is now 2-0 in the Bull Run District…
From MCHS Athletics: The Boys JV Basketball team lost to Manassas Park tonight 41-39. Madison led by 10 at the half then came back from a 5 point deficit late in the game to tie the score at 39. A Madison turnover led to a Park basket with 7 seconds remaining.

It's the "human element" that makes these photos so interesting...at least to me...
Last Tuesday, I visited the Stanley Furniture plant in Stanleytown, VA to look at some machinery that Mountain Lumber (my day job) might like to buy. Almost all of the machinery in the 1.7 MILLION square foot plant is up for sale. The company began in 1924 and had been able to keep all manufacturing in the United States up until now, but began to shift some of its production to “offshore vendors” by the end of 2010. 530 jobs were cut. You can’t compete with cheap…

Madison won their district opener last night against Strasburg 59-34. Madison had a 17-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, and a 36-11 lead at half time. Travis Warren and Matt Temple both had 12 points, followed by Nick Paxton with 11.
We had a couple of almost dunks…
The Cheerleaders performed a new stunt….
The JV Boys lost to Strasburg 43-24.
