Madison Softball advances to Region B Semifinals with a 1-0 win over Central

Published by under Regionals

In the girl’s soccer game, it was pretty obvious early which team was going to win.  Softball was a little different.  It was pretty much a pitcher’s dual up until the bottom of the sixth inning.  Jordan Aylor singled, Amber Robson came to bat next and doubled, driving in Jordan from first.  Madison hung onto their 1-0 lead through Central’s final at bat in the seventh to get the win.  Madison will travel to Appomattox on Wednesday to play in the Region B Semifinal at 6:00 pm.

Madison Girl’s Soccer advances to Region B Semifinals with 11-0 win

Published by under girls soccer,Regionals

About 50 seconds into the match, Lindsey Wheeler scored Madison’s first goal of the night.  She’d put in two more in the second half, with Madison winning 11-0 over the Appomattox Raiders in the Region B Semifinal this afternoon.  Let’s see if I can get the scoring correct:  first half goals by Lindsey Wheeler, Ashley Sealander, Mary Margaret Gaylord, and Samantha Cubbage, which game Madison a 4-0 lead at the half.  Second half goals:  Leanna Coates, Samantha Cubbage-3, Lindsey Wheeler-2, and Ashley Sealander.  Madison will play Clarke on Wednesday, at home, in the Region B Semifinals, at 5:00 pm.

They might have played all night….

Published by under george mason, girls soccer

…if it hadn’t been for the penalty kicks to finally decide the winner.  It was easy to text updates for this game, I just kept sending “0-0”.  After 80 minutes of regulation, and four 5 minute overtime periods, they finally had to settle it with penalty kicks.  And we seem to struggle with that, Mason made 3 of their 4 shots, and we didn’t make any.

Second Team All District Honors go to Tori Puryear, Rachel Strahan, Jenna Tylar, Katy Salmon, and Ivy Jacobs.  First Team All District to Ashley Sealander and Samantha Cubbage.

Girls soccer will continue their season on Monday in the Region B Quarter Finals and will host Appomattox at 5:00 PM.  Varsity softball won the Bull Run District Tournament 5-4 over Clarke last night, they will play in the Region B Quarter Finals on Monday also, and will host Central Woodstock at 7:00 PM.  So, you can go to BOTH games!!  🙂

And here’s a bracket for the Region B tournament.

Madison Softball defeats Rappahannock in Bull Run District Semifinals

Published by under rappahannock,softball

Madison’s varsity softball team defeated the Rappahannock Panthers tonight 5-0 and advance to the Bull Run District Tournament Finals.  They will play Clarke on Thursday night at 7:00pm in Madison.  No big innings for Madison tonight, get ’em on base and bunt ’em around…  Jordan kept Rapp scoreless and only allowed them two hits.

TEAM effort…Madison girl’s soccer defeats Clarke 1-0 in Bull Run District Semifinal

Published by under clarke,girls soccer

Samantha Cubbage scored the lone goal of the game, with about 16 minutes left to play, to give Madison the 1-0 win.  And a very nice goal it was…but that “0” in the score….the fact that Clarke’s scoring attempts got turned back time after time after time…when Clarke seemed to always have possession of the ball…that’s because there’s this WALL back there in front of Tori that just refuses to let the ball get through it… Jenna Tylar, Ellie Hill, Katy Salmon, Kayla Compton, Leanna Coates and others…they deserve at least as much credit in this win…   I just thought you needed to know that 🙂
