….and someone said basketball wouldn’t be exciting this year!!??? After leading by as much as 15, and having an 11 point lead at the end of the third, Madison pulled out a 51-50 win over Luray tonight. Travis Warren led the way with 24 points (and I believe his first 18 were all threes…but I’m wrong alot) and two of them were clutch free throws with 4.5 seconds on the clock that gave Madison their 50th and 51st points. Nick Paxton put in 10 for Madison.
Madison’s JV boys lost to Luray 47-31.

After trailing most of the game, and down by 11 points at the end of the third period, Madison’s varsity boys came back to defeat Page 65-62.
From the MCHSAthletics website: The Varsity Boys Basketball team fought back from an 11 point deficit in the 4th quarter to beat Page County 65-62. The Mountaineers scored 26 points in the 4th quarter to secure the win. Travis Warren led the way for Madison finishing with a game high 22 points and went 4-4 from the foul line in the final 15 seconds. Patrick Roebuckplayed a solid all around game finishing with 18 points and Nick Paxton added 13 points including a huge 3 pointer with 2 minutes to go to trim the Page lead to 2 points.Terez Terrell also played well finishing with 7 points and several key rebounds and a steal late in the 4th.
Madison’s JV boys lost to Page tonight 49-42. Kody Lichliter led the way with 13 points and Clifford Fortune added 8.

A couple of AWESOME basketball games last night, we didn’t get the final scores we Madison fans would have liked, but they sure were fun games to watch!! Madison’s varsity girls took AA Orange (soon to be AAA) into overtime before finally falling 30-25. Freshman Chandler Gentry scored over half of the those points putting in 14 to lead Madison. The boys led Orange 26-20 at halftime, but lots of fouls caught up with them later in the game and Orange came away with the win, 65-48. After shooting wrestling yesterday morning, a senior in the afternoon, and then these two basketball games, I hadn’t planned on posting a lot of pictures, but I ended up with too many favorites…….(click a girl’s pic to see their gallery, and a boy’s pic to see their gallery)
Yeah Kathryn, we all felt that way....
Jake and Josh will be working on their timing.....
