Lunar Eclipse

Published by under Lunar Eclipse

First time since 1638 that there has been a lunar eclipse coincide with winter solstice. With all the hoopla in the news about it, and I’ve never photographed one all the way through, I decided to set the alarm for around 1:00 am and see what I could get.  When I first looked out I could barely see the moon because of clouds, but since I was already up, I packed all my stuff and headed out into the field where I could get a clear shot of the moon without trees in the way.  I’d be glad to pass along technical details if someone wants them, but, the short explanation is I had a camera set up with a timer that would trip the shutter every 60 seconds for the duration of the eclipse…and  this ran from about 1:30AM until around 5:05AM.  There are a few stills below, and a time lapse video at the bottom….none of which do this eclipse justice. It was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.

You can click on any of the pictures below and you’ll be taken to a Photoshelter gallery where you can see them larger.

MCHS Boy’s Basketball vs Fluvanna

Published by under basketball,fluvanna,mchs

In games 3 and 4 of yesterday’s basketball marathon, the Madison boys played Fluvanna.  The varsity boys lost to the Flucos 61-47.  Nick Paxton led Madison with 11 points, Bobby Ford added 9 (all three’s I believe).  Fluvanna’s Ya Ya Anderson scored 33 for the Flucos, a lot of those were three’s….that guy rarely missed last night.

Madison’s jv boys lost to Fluvanna 41-31.  If Madison could have made some of their free throws, it would have been a VERY close game.  Josh Lillard led with 13 points and Clifford Fortune put in 9 for Madison.
